Grand Teton National Park

Mormon Row, Grand Teton National Park

The first thing I’ll say about Grand Teton National Park is that I have to go back.

Getting there

I flew into Jackson Hole Airport for this trip, which is a short drive to Grand Teton. I started my trip with a few days in Yellowstone, and you can read more about that experience here.

Camping

I stayed at Colter Bay Campground and absolutely loved it. The campground was quiet and the Colter Bay general store had plenty of food, good coffee and wifi.

Food

Grand Teton NP is a short drive to and from Jackson Hole, and there are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants in town if you prefer to get supplies or meals outside of the park.

Inside of the park, the ice cream at the Colter Bay store is 10/10. I still think about it long after my visit.

I also had dinner at the Ranch House down by the water in Colter Bay. I believe the menu changes often, but when I visited there were plenty of gluten free options.

Click here for more info about eating inside of the park.

Ducks swim along the water at Schwabacher Landing in Grand Teton National Park

Schwabacher Landing

A stop at Schwabacher Landing is worth your time. You’ll head down a short dirt road drive that leads to a little trailhead parking area and a short and easy trail.

During my research for this trip, I read so much about getting here early in the morning to see moose.

Y’all know how much I want to see a moose.

But, no. No moose for me. Again.

I hope you have better luck when you visit.

Mormon Row

There is plenty of parking and lots of places to shoot photos of the beautiful barns along Mormon Row. I was in the park in mid-October and there were only a handful of other people here.

Jenny Lake and Cascade Canyon trail

Parking at Jenny Lake was absolutely packed during the day. On the morning I planned to hike the Cascade Canyon trail, I got to the lot at sunrise and there was plenty of room.

I took the first shuttle boat over to the trailhead and had a ton of time to gawk at all the waterfalls and beautiful overlooks. On the way back to the lot, the boat stopped so we could see a bald eagle in the trees.

The lake is gorgeous. When I visit again, I want to hike the lake trail to see the different views from the shoreline.
